Change The World, One App At A Time.
On March 7th, 2020, the Girls Who Code chapter at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton will hold a one-day Summit that teams elementary and middle school coders, high school student mentors, and female industry professionals in developing Android apps. The Summit aims to introduce young coders to the fundamentals of coding, problem solving, design, and development of software in an inclusive environment. The event will take place on March 7th, in alignment with International Women’s Day.

Elementary and middle school students (Grades 4-8) are welcome to participate at the Summit. |
We are looking for High School Mentors and Adult Mentors to join us as volunteers on the day of the summit! Please scroll down for more information.
MIT App Inventor.Using MIT App Inventor, students will be guided (by both trained high school students and industry professionals) to code their own apps. This informative and educational software will provide students with a fun opportunity to code and design something unique to them.

Solve Meaningful Problems.After forming teams, young coders will compete to create an app that addresses a social topic. The Summit aims to show students the vast opportunities computer science offers, no matter what field they are interested in!

Present Ideas.After a day of coding, participants will have the chance to showcase their work to community leaders and members from the technology industry. They will gain valuable feedback and experience! We hope that all young coders end the day feeling inspired to continue coding.

The Summit aims to introduce young coders to the fundamentals of coding, problem solving, design, and development of software in an inclusive environment!

In the form, please indicate whether you would like to help out young women as a high school youth workshop leader/adult mentor or chaperone the event as a PUSD employee!
Web Development.Using HTML/CSS/Javascript, students will be guided (by both trained high school students and industry professionals) to code their own websites through tutorials. This informative and educational approach will provide students with a fun opportunity to code and design something unique to them.
