Level Up!
March 9, 2024
Our 2024 Summit was a resounding success!
Here are the numbers:
The day started with breakfast and an opening ceremony featuring our officer team. Then, our guest speaker Dana Ding, a software engineer at Meta on the Oculus team, shared about her experience as a woman in STEM. Our high school mentors led their assigned students to their respective rooms, where we got into the day's activities! As per our theme, Level Up!, groups spent the first half the day either creating video games with the Microsoft MakerCode Meowbit consoles or coding an interactive Python chatbot. After a delicious lunch, participants switched into the activity they hadn't done yet. In addition, throughout the day, students had the chance to test out the Oculus VR headsets! The day ended with prizes that recognized outstanding participants, swag distribution, and a scholarship award to our very own president Gracie.
Throughout the day, the girls had to work together, brainstorm, design, and code in order to move up the different "levels." It was only through their hard work and engagement that they were able to reach Level 10!
